A RERA number is a unique ID that the Real Estate Regulatory Agency assigns to brokers, developers, and projects in Dubai. Its job is simple: to let you check that the person or project you are dealing with is registered and legitimate.

Here is what it actually does for you:

  • It confirms legitimacy. Before you sign anything, you can look up the RERA number to confirm the broker, developer, or project is registered and approved. This is your first line of defence against fraud.
  • It gives you a way to verify credentials. You can check the number yourself through the Dubai Land Department website or the Dubai REST app, so you are not relying on someone’s word.
  • It signals compliance. A broker holding a RERA number has passed the mandatory exams, holds a current licence, and is bound by RERA’s rules of conduct.
  • It helps if a dispute arises. If something goes wrong, the RERA number is the reference RERA and the DLD use to trace and investigate the complaint.
  • It lets projects be monitored. Developers get RERA numbers for their projects too, which allows the DLD to track construction against the approved plans and timelines and protect the buyers who have paid in.
